Follow these easy steps to get your Bosch BCM8450UC Coffee Maker up and running in no time.

1. Initial Use

Fill the appropriate container using only pure, cold, uncarbonated water and only roasted beans. Avoid using coffee beans that have been glazed, caramelized or treated with other additives containing sugar, as they will block the brewing unit.

2. Preparation using coffee beans

The appliance must be ready for use. Place a cup underneath the beverage outlet. Turn the control ring and select 'Ristretto', 'Espresso' or 'Coffee'. The display will show the selected drink along with the preset values for the drink. Press 'C' to start dispensing.

3. Cooling Down

Leave the appliance to cool down. If the brewing unit is dirty, clean it.

4. Removing and Filling the Water Tank

Remove the water tank, rinse it, and fill it with fresh water up to the 'max' mark. Replace the water tank and click it into place.

5. Filling the Bean Container

Remove the bean container, fill it with coffee beans, and replace it.

6. Power and Appliance Door

Set the power switch to 'I' and close the appliance door.

7. Running the Program

Place a container with a capacity of 17 oz under the beverage outlet. Press 'C'. The program will now run for about 19 minutes. Remove the container and press 'C'.

8. Rinsing and Replacing

Rinse the water tank and, if removed, replace the water filter. Fill the tank with fresh water up to the 'max' indicator.

9. Inserting Coffee Grounds

Open the appliance door. Remove the ground coffee drawer, ensuring it is dry. Put in coffee grounds (maximum 2 level measuring spoons); do not press firmly. Do not use whole beans or instant coffee.

10. Safety Precautions

Maintain a minimum distance of 4" (10 cm) from the front of the appliance and from parts such as the milk container, milk system, water tank, and brewing unit to avoid influencing electronic implants.
