Maintenance
Check out our tips to prevent many common issues and extend the life of your Hotpoint Refrigerator.
Ensure Proper Electrical Connection
Always plug the refrigerator into its own individual electrical outlet with a voltage rating that matches the rating plate. This prevents overloading house wiring circuits, which could cause a fire hazard from overheated wires.
Regular Cleaning
Unplug the refrigerator before cleaning. If not practical, wring excess moisture out of a sponge or cloth when cleaning around switches, lights, or controls. Use a warm water and baking soda solution—about a tablespoon of baking soda to a quart of water.
Handle Glass Shelves Carefully
Be cautious when handling glass shelves. Bumping tempered glass can cause it to shatter. Additionally, do not wash any plastic refrigerator parts in the dishwasher.
Water Supply to Icemaker
Ensure that the water supply to the icemaker is properly connected and maintained to prevent leaks or flooding.
Prevent Water Hammer
Water hammer in house plumbing can damage refrigerator parts and cause leakage. Follow instructions carefully to minimize the risk of water damage.
