Maintenance
Check out our tips to prevent many common issues and extend the life of your Hotpoint Refrigerator.
Disconnect Before Maintenance
Always switch off the appliance and disconnect it from the electrical supply before performing any maintenance or cleaning. Simply setting the temperature adjustment knob to 'off' is not enough to eliminate electrical contact.
Regular Cleaning
Clean the external and internal parts of the refrigerator, as well as the rubber seals, using a sponge soaked in lukewarm water and bicarbonate of soda or neutral soap. This helps to maintain hygiene and prevent odors.
Avoid Overloading
Do not fill the appliance with too much food. Cold air must circulate freely to preserve food properly. Impeded circulation causes the compressor to work continuously, increasing energy consumption.
Proper Food Storage
Always cover or seal food properly to maintain an odor-free refrigerator and prevent stains. Ensure the internal temperature is maintained by not placing hot food directly into the refrigerator.
Defrosting
Defrost the appliance if ice forms, as a thick layer of ice makes cold transference to food more difficult, increasing energy consumption. Do not use sharp tools or devices other than the provided scraper for defrosting.
