Follow these easy steps to get your Hotpoint FFM64 Refrigerator up and running in no time.

Choose Installation Location

Select a spot away from heat sources like cookers and direct sunlight. Ensure there is at least a 100mm (4 inches) gap above the fridge freezer for proper air circulation to extend its lifespan.

Level the Appliance

Adjust the front feet until the fridge freezer is stable and in firm contact with the floor. This prevents rocking or vibration and keeps the door aligned.

Position the Fridge Freezer

Carefully move the fridge freezer into place, using the sides of the cabinet to avoid damaging the refrigerant circuit pipework at the back.

Troubleshooting

The Hotpoint FFM64 Refrigerator has some known problems that occur often. Here are some easy to do solutions for the problems or error codes your Hotpoint might be giving you.

Amber Holiday Light

The amber holiday light indicates that holiday mode is set. Press the holiday button or open the fridge door to cancel this function and return the fridge freezer to normal operation.

Red High Temperature Warning Light

This light comes on when the temperature inside the freezer compartment rises above the correct storage temperature. Ensure the doors are properly closed and the fridge freezer isn't overloaded. The light will go out once the correct temperature is reached.

Red Food Defrost Alert Warning Light

This light indicates that stored food has started to defrost due to a power cut. Cook and eat the defrosted food within 24 hours, or cook and refreeze it, or discard it.

Installation and Safety

Ensure that the fridge freezer is installed away from heat sources and has adequate ventilation with a 100mm gap above. The device must not be placed in locations where temperatures fall below 6˚C or rise above 38˚C for prolonged periods, as it may affect its performance.

Temperature Control

The left-hand control wheel on the front panel adjusts the fridge temperature, while the right-hand wheel controls the freezer temperature. The fridge should be at 5˚C or colder, while the freezer should be at -18˚C or colder. Adjustments can be made using a coin to turn the wheels.

Defrost Alert System

The models are equipped with a red food defrost alert warning light, which activates during a power cut long enough for the freezer to start defrosting. It also activates if the freezer is switched off for cleaning or emptying.

Service and Guarantee

The fridge freezer must be used solely for domestic purposes and maintained as per guidelines. Only Hotpoint service engineers should undertake repairs. The guarantee covers domestic use only and is void if the appliance is misused or modified.

Holiday Mode

Models FFA84, FFM84, FFA76, FFM76, FFA75, FFA74, and FFM74 feature a Holiday Mode, which reduces energy consumption when the fridge compartment is not in use during holidays. The Holiday Mode is activated independently of the fridge temperature control wheel.

Fast Freeze Function

The bottom compartment drawer is designated for freezing fresh food. The fast freeze function helps freeze food quickly and should be activated before loading more than 2kg of fresh food. It automatically turns off after 48 hours if not manually turned off.

Cleaning and Maintenance

Always switch off the electrical supply and unplug the appliance before cleaning. Regularly ensure that the defrost gutter drain hole remains clear by using a straw to prevent blockages.
