Quick setup

Follow these easy steps to get your Hotpoint FFS70 Refrigerator up and running in no time.

1

Choose a Location

Locate your fridge freezer away from sources of heat such as cookers, radiators, and direct sunlight, as extreme temperatures will affect its performance. Ensure there is a minimum 100mm (4 inches) gap above the fridge freezer for ventilation.

2

Positioning the Fridge Freezer

Move the fridge freezer into position using the sides of the cabinet, taking care to avoid damaging the refrigerant circuit pipework on the rear.

3

Levelling

Level the fridge freezer by adjusting the front feet until firm contact is made with the floor. This will stop rocking or vibration and keep the door aligned.

Holiday Mode Feature

Going on vacation? The FFA80, FFA70, and FFS70 models have a holiday mode that keeps your fridge at a warmer setting while you're away, saving energy without affecting the freezer. It's like a vacation for your fridge too!

Fast Freeze Function

Need to freeze something in a flash? The FFA70, FFS70, and FFA60 models come with a fast freeze feature that turns on the freezer motor for extra cooling. Perfect for preserving that freshness!

Troubleshooting

The Hotpoint FFS70 Refrigerator has some known problems that occur often. Here are some easy to do solutions for the problems or error codes your Hotpoint might be giving you.

Amber Holiday Light

Indicates that the holiday mode is set. Press the holiday button or open the fridge door to cancel this function and return the fridge freezer to normal operation.

Red High Temperature Warning Light

Warns of a rise in temperature in the freezer compartment. This light will come on when the fridge freezer is first switched on or when the temperature inside the compartment rises above the correct storage temperature. It will go out as soon as the compartment returns to its normal storage temperature.

Red Food Defrost Alert Warning Light

Indicates that stored food has started to defrost due to a power cut or if the freezer has been switched off. If the light is on, food should be either cooked and eaten within 24 hours, cooked and refrozen, or thrown away.

Installation and Initial Setup

To ensure your Hotpoint fridge freezer runs efficiently, it should be installed away from heat sources with a 100mm gap above for ventilation. Level the appliance by adjusting the front feet. Ensure the mains cable is not trapped during installation.

Holiday Function

Available on models FFA80, FFA70, and FFS70, the Holiday Function allows the fridge compartment to be set to a warmer temperature during extended absences to reduce energy consumption. This function is activated by a button, independent of the fridge temperature control wheel.

Storage Capacity and Freezing

Models FFA80 and FFA60 have a frozen food storage capacity of 23kg, while FFA70 and FFS70 can store up to 35kg. Maximum freezing capacity in 24 hours is 8kg for FFA80/FFA60 and 12kg for FFA70/FFS70.

Maintenance and Cleaning

Before cleaning, switch off the electrical supply and unplug the appliance. Use a straw to keep the defrost gutter drain hole clear. Do not use aerosol sprays or mechanical devices for defrosting.

Troubleshooting Power Cuts

The food defrost alert warning light activates during extended power cuts when the freezer warms up. If the light comes on without a power cut, ensure the freezer is not empty and press the button beside the light to cancel the alert.

Temperature Control

The internal fridge compartment temperature is adjustable via a control wheel, with a normal set point at '3'. Turn clockwise for colder settings and anti-clockwise for warmer settings. Use a coin to adjust the control wheel to prevent damage.

Fast Freeze Function

Fast freeze is available on models FFA70, FFS70, and FFA60. Use the bottom drawer for freezing fresh food, and transfer already frozen food to the upper drawers. Turn off the fast freeze after 24 hours, or it will automatically deactivate after 48 hours.

Wine Rack and Storage

Models FFA80, FFA70, and FFS70 feature a wine rack suitable for cans, wine bottles, and 2-litre bottles. The maximum recommended load is three 2-litre bottles and two wine bottles.

Safety Considerations

Do not store flammable substances in the fridge freezer. Avoid sitting or standing on top of the appliance. The cooling system contains a small amount of environmentally friendly but flammable gas.

Maintenance

Check out our tips to prevent many common issues and extend the life of your Hotpoint Refrigerator.

Ensure Proper Installation

Install the fridge freezer following the installation instructions. Ensure that ventilation openings are clear of obstructions and allow a minimum of 100mm (4 inches) between the top of the fridge freezer and the ceiling. This will prolong the life of the appliance.

Avoid Heat Sources

Locate your fridge freezer away from sources of heat such as cookers, radiators, and direct sunlight. Extreme temperatures can affect its performance.

Maintain Door Seals

Use warm water and a clean soft cloth to wipe along and in between the creases of the door seals, and dry thoroughly. Avoid using detergents or sharp objects as they can damage the seals.

Proper Food Storage

Ensure food is labeled and dated before placing it in the freezer. Follow food packaging instructions for maximum storage time and avoid contact between fresh and already frozen food.

Use Fast Freeze Feature

When freezing fresh food, use the fast freeze feature to ensure quicker freezing and maintain food quality. Remember to turn off fast freeze after 24 hours.
