Troubleshooting

The Hotpoint HME35 Refrigerator has some known problems that occur often. Here are some easy to do solutions for the problems or error codes your Hotpoint might be giving you.

A1 Error Code

This code indicates excessive heating in the freezer compartment, potentially due to a momentary power failure. To address this issue, ensure that the freezer door is closed properly. The freezer will attempt to maintain a temperature of 0°C to safeguard the food. You can silence the alarm by pressing the SELECT button. If the issue persists, inspect the food for spoilage and consider cooking it before refreezing.

A2 Error Code

This code signals that the temperature inside the freezer has risen to excessively high levels, posing a risk to stored food. Check the conditions of the stored food; it may be necessary to discard it if it's spoiled. To return to normal operation, power off the appliance using the FREEZER OPERATION and APPLIANCE ON/OFF Knob, and then turn it back on.

Door Open Alarm

This alarm is triggered when the refrigerator door is left open for more than two minutes. To resolve this, simply close the refrigerator door. If the door remains open for more than four minutes, the alarm will intensify. Press the SELECT button to silence the alarm.

Installation and Positioning

The Hotpoint HME35 Refrigerator requires careful installation and positioning. It should not be installed outdoors or in covered areas exposed to the elements. Ensure the appliance is placed in a well-ventilated area and avoid direct sunlight to maintain optimal performance.

A.I.R. System

The refrigerator features an Advanced Integrated Refrigeration (A.I.R.) System that maintains a constant temperature to keep food fresh for longer. It quickly restores the correct temperature even when the door is frequently opened, thanks to its efficient circulation of cold air.

Automatic Defrosting

Regular maintenance includes cleaning the appliance to avoid mold and unpleasant odors, ensuring the light bulb is functioning, and managing frost build-up with the provided scraper. These steps help maintain the appliance's efficiency and longevity.

Maintenance

Check out our tips to prevent many common issues and extend the life of your Hotpoint Refrigerator.

Installation and Positioning

Place the Hotpoint HME35 Refrigerator in a well-ventilated room free from humidity. Ensure it's not exposed to direct sunlight and is placed away from heat sources. Do not block the rear fan grills, as good ventilation is essential for optimal compressor and condenser function.

Door Management

Avoid keeping the refrigerator door open for extended periods or opening it too frequently, as this can lead to increased energy consumption and affect cooling efficiency. Ensure the doors close properly and seals are intact to prevent cold air from escaping.

Temperature Settings

Use the REFRIGERATOR OPERATION and FREEZER OPERATION knobs to adjust the temperatures appropriately for each compartment. Consider using the SUPER COOL and SUPER FREEZE functions to quickly achieve desired temperatures when initially loading the refrigerator or freezer.

Food Storage and Loading

Do not overload the appliance as cold air circulation is necessary for food preservation. Ensure that food items do not contact the back wall of the refrigerator. Avoid placing hot foods directly into the refrigerator to prevent an unnecessary increase in internal temperature and energy consumption.

Defrosting Procedures

Regularly defrost the freezer if ice builds up. If the frost layer exceeds 5 mm, manual defrosting is required. Use the provided scraper for this purpose. The refrigerator has an automatic defrosting function; regularly clean the discharge hole to ensure proper water flow.
