Maintenance
Check out our tips to prevent many common issues and extend the life of your Hotpoint Refrigerator.
Set Proper Temperature
Ensure that the refrigerator is set to the recommended temperature settings to maintain efficiency and food safety. Typically, the fresh food compartment should be set around 37°F (3°C) and the freezer at 0°F (-18°C).
Regularly Clean Coils
Dust and debris can accumulate on the condenser coils, causing the refrigerator to work harder. Clean the coils every six months using a vacuum cleaner or a brush to ensure optimal performance.
Inspect Door Seals
Check the rubber door seals for any cracks or wear. A tight seal keeps cold air in and prevents the refrigerator from overworking. Replace any damaged seals promptly.
Ensure Proper Airflow
Keep vents inside the refrigerator and freezer clear of any obstructions to maintain proper airflow. This ensures even cooling throughout the compartments.
Defrost Regularly
If your model does not have an automatic defrost feature, manually defrost the freezer when the ice build-up exceeds a quarter-inch. This prevents the unit from working inefficiently.
