Maintenance
Check out our tips to prevent many common issues and extend the life of your Hotpoint Refrigerator.
Regular Cleaning
Clean the refrigerator's interior and exterior regularly with a mild detergent and warm water to prevent odors and maintain hygiene. Pay special attention to the door seals to ensure they are free from debris, which can affect the appliance's efficiency.
Temperature Settings
Ensure that the refrigerator and freezer are set to the recommended temperatures. The refrigerator should be at or below 40°F (4°C) and the freezer at 0°F (-18°C) to prevent spoilage and maintain energy efficiency.
Check Door Seals
Inspect the door seals regularly for any signs of wear or damage. Damaged seals can cause cold air to leak, increasing energy consumption and affecting food preservation. Replace them if necessary.
Defrosting
If ice builds up in the freezer compartment, defrost it to maintain efficiency. Although the HTS18BCM model includes a spill-proof freezer floor, manual defrosting may be needed occasionally to prevent excessive ice buildup.
Proper Ventilation
Make sure there is adequate space around the refrigerator for ventilation. A clearance of at least one inch on the sides and the back is recommended to allow heat to escape efficiently.
