Troubleshooting

The Hotpoint RL150G Refrigerator has some known problems that occur often. Here are some easy to do solutions for the problems or error codes your Hotpoint might be giving you.

The internal light does not illuminate

The internal light of the appliance fails to turn on, indicating a possible issue with the light bulb or electrical connection. Check if the appliance is properly connected to the electrical supply. If connected, access the light bulb by removing the cover, replace it with a similar bulb (15W or 25W) as indicated on the cover. If issues persist, consult a qualified electrician.

The water discharge hole is blocked

The water discharge hole has become obstructed, potentially causing water to accumulate inside the appliance. Ensure the discharge hole is clear and free of debris. Regularly clean the discharge hole to maintain easy water flow. This will prevent water accumulation and ensure optimal performance.

The appliance is making noise

Unusual noises are emitted from the appliance, possibly due to installation issues or normal operation of internal components. Verify that the appliance is installed on a level surface. If noise persists, check if the appliance is placed between cabinets that may vibrate. The noise may also be due to normal operation of the refrigerant, which doesn't indicate a malfunction.

Installation and Positioning

The Hotpoint RL150P and RL150G refrigerators should be installed on a level and rigid floor. If the floor is not perfectly horizontal, adjust the refrigerator by tightening or loosening the front feet. Position the appliance in a well-ventilated, cool area, away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Ensure proper electrical connections by placing the appliance vertically after transportation and waiting at least 3 hours before connecting it to the mains.

Start-up and Use

Before using the appliance, clean the compartments and accessories with lukewarm water and bicarbonate. Insert the plug into the socket and check that the internal light switches on. Set the TEMPERATURE ADJUSTMENT knob to a medium value. After a few hours, the refrigerator will be ready for storing food.

Defrosting

The refrigerator features automatic defrosting. Water from defrosting is channeled to the back of the appliance and evaporated by the heat of the compressor. Regular cleaning of the discharge hole is necessary to ensure proper drainage.

Safety and Precautions

The appliance is designed for domestic use only and must not be installed outdoors. Do not touch the appliance with wet hands or feet, and avoid direct contact with internal cooling elements. Keep children from tampering with the controls or playing with the appliance.

Environmental Responsibility

Hotpoint emphasizes environmental conservation by using quality recycled components to minimize waste. Users are encouraged to conserve energy by avoiding frequent door opening and ensuring proper air circulation within the refrigerator.

Reversible Doors

The refrigerator doors are reversible, allowing for flexibility in installation to suit your kitchen layout. Follow the guidelines in the manual to adjust the door orientation as required.

Temperature Adjustment

The temperature inside the refrigerator compartment is adjustable via the thermostat knob. A setting of '1' is warmest, and MAX is coldest, with a medium position recommended for standard use. Adjustments should be made based on the quantity of food stored and ambient temperature conditions.

Maintenance and Care

Disconnect the appliance from the electricity supply before performing any cleaning or maintenance. Clean the interior and exterior parts using a sponge soaked in lukewarm water and bicarbonate of soda or neutral soap. Replace the light bulb by unplugging the appliance first.

Guarantee

The refrigerator comes with a 12-month parts and labor guarantee, covering breakdown repairs. A 5-year parts guarantee is available upon registration, with parts fitted by authorized engineers.

Maintenance

Check out our tips to prevent many common issues and extend the life of your Hotpoint Refrigerator.

Proper Installation

Ensure the refrigerator is installed on a level and rigid floor. If the floor is not perfectly horizontal, adjust the refrigerator by tightening or loosening the front feet. Make sure the appliance is earthed and the plug is compliant with the law.

Optimal Positioning

Install the appliance in a fresh and well-ventilated room. Ensure that it is protected from direct sunlight and do not place it near heat sources. Leave a space of at least 10 cm between the top part of the appliance and any furniture above it, and at least 5 cm between the sides and any furniture/side walls.

Temperature Adjustment

Use the TEMPERATURE ADJUSTMENT knob to adjust the temperature. The temperature inside the refrigerator compartment automatically adjusts itself according to the position of the thermostat knob. 1 = warmest, MAX = coldest. We recommend, however, a medium position.

Energy Conservation

Try to avoid keeping the door open for long periods or opening the door too frequently to conserve energy. Do not fill the appliance with too much food: cold air must circulate freely for food to be preserved properly.

Avoid Overloading

Do not overfill the refrigerator as it hinders air circulation, causing the compressor to work continuously, which leads to excessive frost formation and excessive energy consumption.
