Quick setup

Follow these easy steps to get your Hotpoint RLA30 Refrigerator up and running in no time.

1

Location Selection

Choose a location for your fridge away from any heat sources such as cookers, radiators, or direct sunlight. Ensure there is adequate ventilation with at least a 30mm (1¼ inch) gap above the fridge.

2

Settling Period

After moving the fridge to its final location, allow it to stand upright for at least 15 minutes before plugging in. This lets the refrigerant settle.

3

Levelling

Level the fridge by adjusting the front feet. This will prevent rocking or vibration and ensure the door aligns properly.

Eco-Friendly Commitment

Hotpoint is all about keeping things green! They've got a commitment to using quality recycled components to cut down on costs and minimize waste. How cool is that for the planet?

Microban® Magic

Say goodbye to bacteria! The RLM30 and RLS30 models come with Microban® technology, a built-in antibacterial feature that keeps your fridge fresh and clean. It's like having a superhero fighting off germs in your kitchen!

Troubleshooting

The Hotpoint RLA30 Refrigerator has some known problems that occur often. Here are some easy to do solutions for the problems or error codes your Hotpoint might be giving you.

Appliance will not work

The appliance is not operational. This could be due to a power issue or an internal component failure. Ensure the plug is firmly positioned in the socket outlet and the power supply is switched on. Verify the power supply with another appliance. Check the fuse or circuit breaker. Confirm the door is closed properly.

Ice builds up rapidly inside the fridge

Excessive ice formation inside the refrigerator, often due to door sealing issues. Ensure nothing is obstructing the door from closing properly. Refer to the CONTROLS section for further troubleshooting.

Water beneath the salad bin and on the floor

Water accumulation under the salad bin and possibly spilling onto the floor. Check that the defrost gutter drain hole is not covered. Ensure nothing is in contact with the interior back wall of the fridge.

Installation Location & Air Circulation

Locate your fridge away from sources of heat such as cookers, radiators, and direct sunlight. Allow a minimum of 30mm (1¼ inch) between the top of the fridge and the underside of the worktop to ensure proper ventilation and prolong the life of the appliance.

Microban® Technology

The RLM30 and RLS30 models feature Microban® technology, which offers antibacterial protection built into interior components. This helps prevent the growth of harmful bacteria, keeping the fridge fresher and more hygienically clean.

Safety Precautions

Do not use mechanical or electrical devices for manual defrosting. If you suspect a gas leak, ventilate the room and do not switch on the fridge. Ensure the mains cable is not trapped during installation.

Changing the Light Bulb

Switch off the socket and unplug the mains before changing the bulb. Use a 15W SES bulb, which can be ordered from Hotpoint Genuine Parts and Accessories.

Operating Sounds

The fridge motor (compressor) makes a buzzing or humming sound when running. This noise can be louder when the fridge is first switched on.

Ventilation Requirements

If there is less than 30mm clearance above the fridge, a vent must be fitted to provide adequate ventilation. This minimizes running costs and is crucial for optimal performance.

Temperature Control

The control wheel adjusts the internal temperature, which should be 5˚C or colder. Turning the wheel clockwise will make it colder, while turning it anti-clockwise will make it warmer.

Automatic Defrosting

The fridge compartment defrosts automatically. Water droplets may form on the interior back wall and refreeze. Ensure the defrost drain hole is clear, and stored food does not touch the back wall.

After Sales Service

Hotpoint offers a fully inclusive parts and labor guarantee for the first 12 months. Free replacement parts are available for the first 5 years when fitted by a Hotpoint engineer.

Recycling & Disposal

Hotpoint encourages proper disposal of packaging and old appliances. Removal of certain parts before disposal ensures that the appliance cannot be plugged into a mains socket.

Maintenance

Check out our tips to prevent many common issues and extend the life of your Hotpoint Refrigerator.

Choose the Right Location

Position your fridge away from heat sources such as cookers, radiators, and direct sunlight to ensure optimal performance. Ensure there is at least a 30mm gap above the fridge for proper ventilation.

Ensure Proper Ventilation

Maintain clear ventilation openings and avoid placing the fridge in tightly enclosed spaces without allowing for air circulation.

Avoid Damaging the Pipes

Take care when installing or moving the fridge to prevent damage to the refrigerant circuit pipes at the rear of the appliance.

Handle Electrical Components Safely

Prior to any maintenance or cleaning, switch off the electrical supply and unplug the appliance to avoid electrical hazards.
