Quick setup

Follow these easy steps to get your Hotpoint RLA36 Refrigerator up and running in no time.

1

Choose Location

Select a location for your fridge that is away from heat sources like cookers or direct sunlight and ensure there is adequate ventilation with at least a 30mm (1¼ inch) gap above.

2

Ventilation

If there is less than 30mm clearance above the fridge, a vent must be fitted to provide adequate ventilation. This is essential for efficient operation.

3

Position the Fridge

Move the fridge into position using the sides of the cabinet to avoid damage. Ensure that the mains cable is not trapped underneath or behind the fridge.

Microban® Magic

The Hotpoint RLA34, RLA36, RLM34, and RLM36 come with Microban® technology, which is like having a tiny superhero inside your fridge fighting off harmful bacteria to keep your food fresh and your fridge sparkling clean!

Silent Symphony

Ever wondered what a fridge's playlist sounds like? The Hotpoint models hum and buzz a gentle symphony as they work, especially when first switched on. It's the sound of freshness being delivered!

Installation and Location

Choose a location for your fridge away from heat sources and allow for adequate ventilation with a 30mm gap above. Before plugging in, let the fridge stand in its final location for at least 15 minutes to settle.

Temperature Control

The temperature control wheel on the front adjusts the fridge's internal temperature. It should be set so that the internal temperature is 5˚C or colder, although some sections may be slightly warmer.

Microban® Technology

The fridge features Microban® antibacterial technology built into its components to protect against bacteria, keeping the fridge fresher and hygienically clean. Microban® does not wash out or wear out.

Troubleshooting and Support

If the fridge is not operating as desired after 24 hours, refer to the troubleshooting section. For technical difficulties, contact Hotpoint Service for assistance or to arrange for an engineer visit.

Safety Information

The fridge's cooling system contains a small amount of environmentally friendly but flammable gas. Ensure ventilation openings are clear of obstruction. The appliance must be earthed and should only be installed by a qualified electrician.

Useful Advice and Storage

Use the different storage zones for varying food items. For example, dairy products should be stored in the cool zone. Follow food packaging 'best before/use by' instructions for optimal storage.

Cleaning and Maintenance

Do not use detergent to clean the seals as it will cause damage. If going away, switch off the socket outlet, remove food, and clean the fridge as per instructions.

Recycling and Disposal

Dispose of old appliances separately from normal waste to optimize recycling and minimize environmental impact. Contact local authorities for proper disposal information.

Maintenance

Installation Location & Air Circulation

Locate your fridge away from sources of heat such as cookers, radiators, or direct sunlight, as extreme temperatures can affect its performance. Ensure there is a 30mm (11/4 inch) gap above the fridge for adequate ventilation.

Handling and Moving

Take care when installing or moving the fridge to avoid damaging the pipes on the rear. Ensure the mains cable is not trapped underneath or behind the fridge.

Cleaning

Switch off the electrical supply and pull out the mains plug before cleaning. Remove food, wrap or cover it to keep it cool, and clean the interior with warm water and washing up liquid using a soft cloth.

Defrosting

The fridge compartment will defrost automatically. Ensure the defrost drain hole is kept clear and that stored food does not come into contact with the interior back wall.

Temperature Control

Adjust the control wheel as needed. Clockwise (higher number) for colder settings and anti-clockwise (lower number) for warmer settings. Use a Fridge Freezer Thermometer to ensure the correct temperature.
