Follow these easy steps to get your Hoover S1420 Vacuum Cleaner up and running in no time.

1. Unpacking and Identifying Parts

Unpack the vacuum cleaner from its carton. Identify all parts as shown in the included diagram. Remove and dispose of any packing materials.

2. Assembling the Cleaner

Connect the hose to the vacuum cleaner by aligning the latch with the opening on the bag door. Push the hose end into the opening until it clicks into place. To remove the hose, depress the latch and pull out.

3. Attaching Wands and Tools

To connect the hose to an extension wand or cleaning tool, turn the plastic latch ring on the hand grip until the outer slot lines up with the inner slot. Push the hand grip down onto the wand or tool so the button projection fits into the slot.

4. Installing the Filter Bag

Open the bag door at the front of the cleaner by depressing the door latch. Remove the door and push the collar of the new filter bag onto the dirt tube. Ensure it is seated firmly against the ribs on the door. Close the door by placing the tab on the bag door into the slot in the lower front of the cleaner.

5. Using the Cleaner

Plug the cleaner into a proper voltage electrical outlet. Turn the cleaner on to check for suction. If using on rugs, release the brushes by sliding the indicator towards 'RUG'. For hard floors, lock the brushes by sliding the indicator towards 'BARE FLOOR'.

6. Storing the Cleaner

After use, remove the hose from the cleaner. Wrap the power cord around the cleaner, and reposition any tools on the tool rack for storage.
