Quick setup

Follow these easy steps to get your Hotpoint RLA52 Refrigerator up and running in no time.

1

Choosing the Location

Select a location for your fridge away from heat sources like cookers, radiators, or direct sunlight, as extreme temperatures will affect its performance. Ensure there is at least a 100mm (4 inches) gap between the top of the fridge and the ceiling or underside of a wall cupboard to allow for adequate ventilation.

2

Level the Fridge

Level the fridge by adjusting the front feet until firm contact is made with the floor. This action will prevent rocking or vibration and ensure the door is aligned, aiding in reliable and efficient operation.

3

Positioning the Fridge

Move the fridge into position using the sides of the cabinet. Take care to avoid damaging the refrigerant circuit pipework on the rear.

Troubleshooting

The Hotpoint RLA52 Refrigerator has some known problems that occur often. Here are some easy to do solutions for the problems or error codes your Hotpoint might be giving you.

The fridge will not work

The appliance is not operational, indicating a potential disruption in power supply. Ensure the plug is firmly positioned in the socket outlet and the power supply is switched on. Verify that all feet/wheels are in contact with the floor and the fridge is level.

The temperature is too warm

The internal temperature of the fridge is higher than the desired setting. Adjust the control wheel to a higher number to decrease the temperature. Ensure the fridge is away from heat sources and has adequate ventilation. Confirm the door is properly closed.

The temperature is too cold

The internal temperature of the fridge is lower than necessary, potentially freezing contents. Turn the control wheel to a lower number to increase the temperature incrementally until the desired level is achieved.

Installation Location & Air Circulation

Locate your fridge away from sources of heat like cookers, radiators, and direct sunlight as extreme temperature will affect its performance. Ensure a minimum 100mm (4 inches) gap between the top of the fridge and the ceiling or underside of a wall cupboard to prolong the life of the fridge.

Safety and Installation Notes

Ensure the mains cable is not trapped underneath or behind the fridge when installing or moving it. Do not stack other appliances on top as they might damage the fridge or become unstable. Avoid sitting or standing on the fridge.

Changing the Light Bulb

Switch off the electricity supply and pull out the mains plug. Obtain a replacement SES 15-watt bulb and fit it. Remove any shelves directly below the interior light to make access easier.

Service & Guarantee

Hotpoint appliances come with a fully inclusive parts and labor guarantee for the first 12 months. Free replacement parts for the first 5 years are available when fitted by a Hotpoint engineer.

Temperature Control

The setting of the control wheel will depend on the fridge's location, room temperature, and door opening frequency. The normal set point (marked by a 3 and N on the dial) is usually suitable. Adjust the temperature by turning the control wheel: Clockwise for colder and anti-clockwise for warmer.

Defrosting

The fridge compartment defrosts automatically, so no manual defrosting is required. During defrost periods, water droplets form on the interior back wall and refreeze afterward.

Going Away

If not using the fridge while away, switch off the electricity supply and unplug it. Remove food and follow cleaning instructions to prevent odors.

Troubleshooting

If the fridge does not work, check that the plug is firmly positioned in the socket and the power supply is on. Refer to the Troubleshooting section if the fridge is not operating as desired after 24 hours.
