Maintenance
Check out our tips to prevent many common issues and extend the life of your Hotpoint Refrigerator.
Optimal Location and Ventilation
Choose a location for your fridge away from any heat sources such as cookers, radiators, or direct sunlight. Ensure there is a minimum of 100mm (4 inches) clearance between the top of the fridge and the ceiling or wall cupboards to allow adequate ventilation.
Avoid Damage During Installation
Take care when installing or moving the fridge to avoid damaging the pipes on the rear. Ensure the mains cable is not trapped underneath or behind the fridge during installation or movement.
Proper Use and Storage
Only use this fridge for storing domestic foodstuffs. Ensure stored food does not come into contact with the interior back wall of the fridge to avoid water accumulation. Do not store poisonous, flammable, or dangerous substances in the fridge.
Regular Cleaning
Switch off the electrical supply and unplug the mains before cleaning. Use a clean soft cloth with warm water and washing-up liquid for the exterior surface. Use a soft brush or vacuum to remove dust from underneath and the back of the fridge. Ensure the defrost gutter drain hole is clear of blockages.
Avoid Mechanical Devices
Do not use mechanical or electrical devices inside the fridge for manual defrosting. Avoid using aerosol sprays for defrosting or cleaning as they can damage the seal.
